Status: RUNNING

Tour at 13:00

Report from Elding: What a wonderful weather we have had in our afternoon trip. The sun was shinning, we had incredible warm temperature (6°C!) and the sea state was very calm. Ideal conditions for whale watching. With a very good mood we sailed out and it didn't´t take too much until we were able to spot one of the first 3 humpback whales that crossed our path. The first one was surfacing smoothly close to our boat heading to Reykjavik, the second one was slightly bigger but following the same direction close to the harbour and the third one was spotted further away in between many small fishing vessel. Her surfacing pattern was different as she was clearly feeding and raising her fluke constantly, a sign of deep dive. The opportunity to see three different individuals taught us how different humpbacks whale can be one from another, getting a closer look at their tail to identify them. In the way back we spotted one of the first humpies of the tour too.It was a brilliant tour.

Report from Eldey: Beautiful weather as yesterday, this is summer in Iceland! With clear sky and just a little wind in our back we started to sail out. Really calm conditions would make it easier to spot cetaceans and we did not had to look to long to spot the first blow of a humpback whale. It was feeding in the deeper waters so went for longer dives, came back to the surface taking a few breaths before showing the fluke and going for another dive. After taking some really nice pictures of the animal we decided to move on in search for some more cetaceans. After a few minutes we spotted another humpback whale with similar behaviour. It was really beautiful observing this majestic animals close to the water surface, their white flippers shining throw the shallow water before going for a deep dive and showing us the fluke again! On the way back we met again the first humpback of the morning. What a wonderful morning out in the bay with such beautiful weather!
