- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900
Report from Eldey: We set sail just as the sun was rising, with its warm glow lighting up the sky behind us. The waters were calm as we made our way toward Hafnarfjordur, and right when we were getting close to the harbor, we spotted two humpback whales feeding together. It was seriously one of the coolest things ever. They were lunging for food so close to the boat, and a few times, they even came right up next to us. You could feel the excitement on board as everyone scrambled for a better view. It’s one of those moments you never forget — the whales were so close you could almost feel the splash of their breath. The whole crew was buzzing after that, and we were all just soaking in how lucky we were to see them so up close. Definitely a highlight of the trip!
CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING TOUR I 13:00
Report from Eldey: We certainly got the true Icelandic viking experience this afternoon! With strong winds and swell, it took us a bit longer to get back to the area where the whales were this morning. We were still approaching the location, when we already saw a blow ahead of us - a single humpback whale. The pair that we had seen in the morning had split up! We were able to follow the whale we know as Pongo as they headed out away from land and towards deeper waters. Both us and the whale were travelling into the waves, which not only made a more exciting experience onboard, but also meant that we got to see the whole body of the whale sometimes as it swam up a wave before surfacing. After a while we had to leave and make our way back to Reykjavik.
