Report from Eldey: Amazing weather and sightings continue! Flat seas, very little wind and a beautiful sunset that we got to witness on our afternoon tour. After this mornings success we were excited to sail out again. The conditions were ideal for spotting and after about an hour of sailing we spotted a first dorsal fin pop up at the surface right next to our boat: a white-beaked dolphin! Since dolphins are very social and rarely solitary, we were sure that more individuals would be somewhere near. In no time, an other dolphin popped up! We were observing the 2 white-beaked dolphins for a good while, they were calmly swimming to the same direction with us, making it very easy to follow along. We decided to continue sailing and ended up spotting first a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins and as we were observing them circling around the boat, some even jumping playfully, suddenly we saw a lot of splashes in the distance behind us: a huge pod of 25-30 white-beaked dolphins was swimming towards us - and fast! We got to enjoy the dolphins almost our whole way back to Reykjavík. As a cherry on top, 4-5 harbour porpoises popped up at the surface close to the harbour. Simply an incredible tour!

Report from Eldey: Another incredible morning in the bay of Faxaflói. Snow-capped mountains, mirror calm seas, sun rise over Reykjavik and warm coloured skies of pinks and oranges. There was even a little ice floating near the areas of fresh water input with birds resting on top. It took us a while to see our first sighting of a small pod of 4 harbour porpoises, as soon as they were mentioned on the microphone, they disappeared with most of our passengers not being able to see them. About 1 hour and 40 minutes into the tour we spotted a small pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins, 2 disappeared but there was one that kept us company for 20 minutes as it travelled alone and fast towards the south. It led us to a HUGE! Pod of at least 20-30 very scattered white-beaked dolphins and even more far in the distance. We were very lucky because they were heading towards Reykjavik and by that time we really needed to get back. So we travelled back home with the white-beaked dolphins speedily travelling next to us. Great days to be out on the water.
