Monday, 25 October 2021

Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tours and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00
  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. Masks are not mandatory but are recommended in areas where keeping distance from others is not possible.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: The morning started out rainy, but the rain settled soon after we left the port. It was rather “warm” outside (or… as warm as an Icelandic Octoberday can be).  We searched for whales and dolphins for three hours, scanning all around us and covering as much of an area with the boat as possible, but we did not see any animals. While the unpredictability of wildlife is part of its charm, its also unfortunate when we do not know what the animals are up to. We hope to show the whales and dolphins to our passengers on another, complimentary tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was a cloudy afternoon when we left the port, but with time the sky brightened a little. The mountain peaks were covered with snow and we watched the beautiful landscape. Our on-board fish finder showed that there are not many fish in the bay, but we managed to meet 5 white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins jumped happily around the boat and swam with us, just a few meters from the boat! The dolphins’ joy was contagious, and everyone on board couldn’t help but smile as the dolphins jumped all around us. We returned to the port tired because of the rocking movements of the boat, but happy because we do not get to watch dolphins every day.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from RIB : If two days ago the forecast was predicting a nice weather today, Iceland stroke again. Wind from the east was building a strong swell making the ride a bit complicated in the bay. The sky looked heavy but the visibility was still okay and it did not rain. We went out and seeing that the other boats further west were not very lucky with the whales, we decided to go explore in the south where the sea was calmer. We could not find anything and offered our passengers a complimentary ticket to come for free on a Classic Whale Watching tour
