Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised.

Report from Eldey: After a stormy week end we finally could get out in the bay. The sun was shinning, with very little wind coming from the north east. The swell was still quite high, build up by the previous strong winds. We went out hopeful and after a while we started to see many sea birds, some by themselves and others in flocks. We slowed down until we saw splashes made by dolphins in the distance. We went there crossing in the way a minke whale,  that quickly disappeared. We decided to go on too find the responsible of the splashes. We found a nice pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins. They seemed to be in two smaller groups that appeared in front of the boat and on our left. We spotted almost at the same time a blow a little bit further that belonged to a humpback whale so we got closer to see this beautiful individual go for a fluke dive. It showed us its white tail with two circle made by barnacles in the center, thats Neila! We stayed with Neila a while, seeing maybe two white-beaked dolphins around. When more boats arrived we decided to leave the area and get back to Reykjavik, crossing a last pod of 5-6 white-beaked dolphins with 3 calves.

Report from Eldey: It´s always nice to be out in the sea after a few days docked in the harbour due to the weather. We had a fun ride with astonishing views. We headed out into Faxaflói bay and although being a sunny day, the cold and the swell were intense. Besides some great flocks of seabirds we were not able to spot any wildlife on this tour. Thus, we handed out our passengers complementary tickets that allow them to come back for free in the next two years for a new and hopefully more successful whale watching adventure, in Reykjavik or in Akureyri.
