Status: RUNNING

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on a calm beautiful day. There could be some movement on the boat out in Faxabay and it is probably cold too but we have heated indoor areas on board and we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our tour!

Report from Eldey: What a gorgeous morning expected us out in Faxafloi today. The sun had just risen above the snowy mountains when we were sailing out and there was not too much movement on the boat. Even though a cold wind was still blowing from the north, we truly enjoyed the sun warming our faces. We spend almost three hour out at sea enjoying the presence of many sea birds like the northern fulmar and the cormorant. Today you could really see why Iceland is called Iceland, everywhere you looked we saw snow and ice glittering in the sun, simply amazing! Unfortunately we were not able to find any cetaceans this morning so we gave out complimentary tickets to all our passengers to come back and give wildlife a chance one more time for free. Hopefully next time we will have a tour under the same lovely conditions with plenty of whales, dolphins and porpoises.

Report from Eldey: In the continuity of this morning, we had a splendid weather on the bay. For more than half of the trip the wind was weak, so we could enjoyed a relaxing and warm cruise. It almost felt like a summer day ! The swell was merciful and the visibility was absolute even allowing us to see the Snaefellsjokull that had been hidden in the clouds and mist for most of the winter. With such easy sea conditions, we decided to sail full throttle to the West, going the furthest away as possible to see what happens a little bit more outside. We could not do that during the past few weeks due to the rough seas, so it was an exciting time ! At some point we met other vessels and there was some suspicions of a whale in the area we where sailing in, but what had been sighted obviously felt shy and swam away unnoticed. Running late, we had to turn back and face again a biting wind from the North. Coated in our overalls, the way back was still comfortable. Yet we were sorrowful as it was a no show from the cetaceans. We hope though that our passengers will take advantage of the complimentary tickets we offered and will be successful in their next try.
