CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out on a sunny morning with perfect sea conditions. After about half an hour, we sighted a minke whale! The area was filled with birds, so it was likely feeding. Soon after, we spotted another minke in the same area. We stayed with them for a few resurfacings before deciding to sail further out. We had heard reports of a humpback whale in the area, so we headed in that direction to take a look. As we got closer, we were excited to see not just one, but two humpbacks! We watched them fluke multiple times until our time ran out and we had to begin our journey back to the harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out into Faxaflói once again with some lovely weather on the way out. After about an hour, we spotted our first species: one minke whale! This minke was quite quick and disappeared just as fast as it appeared so we had no choice but to move on. It wasn't long until we encountered our second species, two humpback whales! We were in an area with lots of birds so these whale must have been feeding beneath the surface. One of them even surfaced super close to the boat and we could see its white pectoral fins reflect the light from under the water. We stayed with these two whales for a little bit before moving on to a different area where we spotted a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins! They were moving quite slowly so everybody was able to get a good look at them before we headed back to harbour. A great end to a great day :)
