CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we dressed warm and ventured out into the bay full of excitement of what the tour would bring. Soon, a blow appeared in the distance. When we arrived, we discovered that it was not just one, but three blows! The tall exhales came from 3 humpback whales that were seemingly busy deep diving and feeding in the area. Suddenly, some smaller fins also started breaking the surface, and we noted that these came from a pod of 5 white beaked dolphins. We stayed in the area for many nice viewings, and were even lucky to see one of the individuals lift its entire pectoral fin out of the water, how cool! After some time here, we started noticing more blows ahead, so we decided to leave the trio alone and see what the other whales were up to. When we arrived, we discovered that it was a pair of humpback whales. We watched them doing some fluke dives as well, and at one point they came so close we could clearly see their white pectoral fins through the surface. With this beautiful viewing, and two synchronized fluke dives we headed back to the harbour. What a great morning tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We headed out today in the ocean with our spirits high. After sailing for a while we encountered two large blows in the distance. It happened to be two humpback whales! It was great seeing this pair as they were coming close to the boat and also showing off their beautiful tail flukes in gorgeous dives over and over again. The bay seemed to be very much alive today as there were blows of many more humpback all over the place, the bay was literally "humping". We headed to an area with three more humpback whales that also gave us nice fluke dives. How special to see so many humpback whales in the end of September. It was also a special tour in the way that this was guide Frida's last shift of the season. What a beautiful day out at sea!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Eldey: This evening we sailed out with high spirits under some gaps in the clouds, which soon would start turning orange from the light of the sunset. The Reykjanes peninsula was lit up beautifully, and we had tall blows appearing about what felt like everywhere. We started of by stopping next to a pair of humpback whales, which we were able to see deep dive, showing their beautiful tail flukes high up into the air. After some time here, we started spotting more blows in the distance, so we moved over to find three humpback whales. These caught us by surprise, as one individual unexpectedly did a peduncle throw, what a cool sight! After, it also rolled over on its side, making us able to see its tall pectoral fin high it the air, waving at us. After some time here, watching more fluke dives, we continued our journey back to Reykjavik to encounter 2 more humpback whales, and one juvenile humpback whale that caught us by surprise by surfacing next to us as we were sailing back to Reykjavik. We stopped but this one had seemed to swam of on further adventures. When we arrived back to the city, the darkness had fallen, and we could observe the lit up skyline of Reykjavik as we neared the harbour. What a magical evening!
