Tour at 1300

Report from Elding: The weather was beautiful as we sailed out from Grindavik harbour, a 45 minute bus ride from our downtown Reykjavík main office. The sea conditions were very good to begin with but much more evident as we traveled farther from the coast. Birdlife was abundant in the harbour with shags, cormorants, black-backed gulls and Glaucous gulls resting on the harbour walls and swimming in the calm waters. Off shore however it was quieter with the only birds following the fishing boats. Occasionally harbour porpoises were seen by crew and a few passengers but even they did not want to show themselves very well. By the end of the tour the staff were just as disappointed by not seeing any whales or dolphins as the passengers were but the silver lining was the beautiful low lying sun, stunning landscape and just being out on the water. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they have better luck next time.
