Report from Eldey: The wind had picked up a little bit, but the conditions where still good and we sailed out from Reykjavik, full of optimism. We had sailed for about 30 minutes, when we found our first minke whale. This was the first of many minke whale sightings on this tour. Throughout the tour we saw one minke after another scattered around the bay. They where all tricky to follow, but we managed to get some nice views of minke whales on this trip! A lovely evening on Faxaflói bay.

Report from Elding: We were very excited to be getting out on the bay again. Wind had picked up a little but the sun was warm and made up for it. There is so much wildlife in the bay today. We first came across a pod of about 6-8 white-beaked dolphins that seemed to not want to interact with us and it was made worse than other whale watching vessels came over so we left the area and then encountered an awesome pod of 4-6 harbour porpoise that were circling each other, maybe socialising and just 20m from us. Minke whales were so abundant in the bay, at least 10-12 seen near and far, with the flat seas we could see whales surfacing for miles. There was a humpback encountered on this tour also but a very grumpy humpy that went for long dives and quick surfaces. Twice it surfaced near to us that I hope most if not all passengers got to see it. We ended the tour with another pod of 8-10 white-beaked dolphins before heading back to port.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out from Reykjavik under beautiful weather conditions. The sea was nearly flat and the sun was shinning. Barely half an hour, we had our first encounter with a minke whale! It surfaced a couple of times near the boat but it was elusive. As soon as we started moving again, we crossed paths with a pod of at least four white beaked-dolphins! The dolphins surfaced several times close to boat. Just a few minutes later, we saw our first humpback whale of the tour! We then encountered a second pod of dolphins around another humpback whale, just minutes later. Although again elusive, another minke whale surfaced less than 100 meters away from us. On our way back to the harbour, another pod of at least four dolphins approached the boat as to conclude this exciting, productive tour, full of diverse species and interesting behaviours.

Report from Elding: What a beautiful morning to be our on the bay, mirror calm seas, which is rear to have here in Reykjavik. Stunning pictures to be had of the reflections of the clouds, mountains and birds as they swoop down to the surface of the water. The bay was just teaming with life; seabirds, dolphins and porpoises. A small pod of 2-3 harbour porpoises surfacing just 10mins after leaving the harbour. Then after another 20mins, a pod of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins got our attention. We enjoyed them for a few minutes before traveling further out and encountering an area with at least 5-7 minke whales feeding. Throughout the whole tour there was at least 12-15 minke whale seen near and far on this very flat calm sea. An amazing morning to be out on the ocean.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out from Reykjavik. A few minutes of sailing in good conditions and we saw our first harbour porpoise. Shortly after we found a pod of white beaked dolphins. Their direction where a bit hard to predict, and we decided to go a bit further out in the bay. This paid off, as we encountered 15 white beaked dolphins giving us an incredible show! They where swimming close to the surface so it was very easy to see every detail of the dolphins, swimming next to the boat. They where leaping out of the water, and they stayed around the boat for quite some time! Larger cetaceans was also seen, as we found 2 minke whales on this tour. Their behavior was hard to predict, but we had a minke surfacing close to the boat! It was a great tour this morning, and everybody was able to get great video and photo of the playful dolphins.

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern fulmar, Atlantic puffin, northern gannet, great black backed gull, brent geese, common guillemot, arctic tern, arctic skua, black legged kittiwake, razorbill.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today, conditions at sea are favorable but there could always be some movement on the boat, and we do have sea sickness tablets at the ticket office free of charge.
