Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: This moody morning we sailed out facing a snow covered majestic Esja. There was a fairly strong Easterly wind but it just made the the morning more atmospheric. After about an hour of sailing we spotted 1 minke whale, these can sometimes be a bit elusive, this one however was very friendly. It came up a few times, getting closer each time and showing off its speed as well. It seemed to be off on its own adventure so after some time together we also headed onwards in ours. We very quickly spotted a humpback whale! It was Flak again, our winter resident! Flak came up extremely close to the boat and we all got to have a proper look. It then wandered off a little but came up a few more times showing us its fluke when it did. The rain started coming in, just as we ran out of time so we headed back to the harbour.

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out once more to see what we would find. The wind was still going strong, but the rainy clouds had left now showing the beautiful snowy mountains around Reykjavik. We found Flak (the humpback whale) very quickly! We stayed with Flak for a bit, who was still busy feeding and often changing direction, but always showing its beautiful fluke when it went for a dive. After a while we decided to head a little further out to see if there was any more species or individuals about, getting a good look of Esja and the islets around us. However, after a little loop we didn't find much else so decided to head back to Flak and spend a few more moments together before heading back to harbour.
