CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00
Report from Hafsulan: Layered up and determined we set sail out into the bay. It was not too long before we spotted 2 harbor porpoises. While we adore our harbor porpoises, they can be pretty elusive. Indeed these two were very focused feeders and so after a few surface sequences they waved farewell to us. We continued onward, admiring our birdlife as we went along. We then saw the back of one minke whale! This individual gave us a nice surface sequences, before they too waved us goodbye. Unfortunately, time was up and so we had to head back to port. With our cetaceans being a bit more elusive, we handed out complimentary tickets with hopes to return to sea again.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: We put our raincoats on and set sail out into the bay. Right as we were leaving the harbor we spotted 3 harbor porpoises! These individuals were on the move and so after a few surface sequences, we continued onward. Just as we were explaining how we look for our cetaceans, we spotted the blow of one humpback whale. There was even a second blow of another solitary humpback whale in the distance as well. We got treated to the fluke of our closer humpback which was very nice to see. While waiting, we also had one minke whale popping up feeding around the boat periodically. When our individual humpback resurfaced, it was in the company of the second humpback! Our humpbacks had found each other and were feeding together! The second individual was crew favorite, Davy Jones II! These two whales then came close and gave us a bit of a boat inspection. At some point, a 3rd humpback whale appeared, so we had a trio swimming side by side for a few moments! It was amazing to not only be able to see these humpbacks so close, but to hear them as well! After wonderful views of our humpbacks, unfortunately, it was time to head back to port. But on our way back we had another solitary minke whale! This individual came really close to the boat and it was wonderful to be able to see their face even as they surfaced. With three of our four common cetaceans spotted, we could not complain. Close to the harbour, we found another minke whale that came close, allowing everyone to have a good look at it! What a great tour!
