CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900

Report from Eldey: We sailed out for the first time in a few days hoping to see some marine wildlife. Not too long after leaving the harbour it started to snow again after we had the first snow of the season in Reykjavik overnight. Around this same time we also saw a harbour porpoise. It only surfaced once but some of our lucky passengers did it see it at the front. Later on in the tour we started to see lots of dorsal fins. These belonged to white beaked dolphins. Across 2 pods we saw over 30 minutes we saw 10 individuals. They were jumping lots and even coming very close to the boat. They were likely feeding. We also got a quick glimpse at an elusive minke whale. It only surfaced 2-3 times before disappearing into the depths of the Faxafloi bay. We then headed back after a lovely tour in the snow.
