Tour at 13:00

The weather conditions were about the same as we heading offshore. We came to an area where there were a Minke Whale but this Minke was quite elusive. We then suddenly found ourselves surrounded by Harbour Porpoises leaping out of the water and surfing the waves. We seemed to be waiting ages for the Minke Whale to resurface that we stayed watching the Porpoises for a while as they seemed to be enjoying our company more than the Minkes. We didn´t see that Minke again so we headed further offshore. We did come across Minkes but again they were very elusive. It wasn´t until we started to head back towards the coast that we spotted a blow. We saw a blow a couple of times but didn´t see the body of this Minke and then after some persistance it surfaced 2 or 3 times only 80 meters from our vessel. We ended the tour by visiting Akurey the puffin Island and saw loads. Great ending to the tour.

Report from Elding: Both of our whale watching vessels went out this morning, Hafsúlan and Elding. The wind had definitely picked up over night but the sun was out and warm. We have now starting our tours to the Puffin Islands and started our tour by visiting Lundey and Akurey and saw loads of Puffins and some Black Guillemots, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Eider Ducks, Geese and Gulls both on and around this islands. Afterwards we set out in Faxafloi Bay. Elding came across a quite a large pod of White-beaked Dolphins (7-10 dolphins) which were really nice to watch, surfing the waves and coming very close to the boat. We then got word from Hafsúlan that they had some Minke Whales so we set off full speed. Once we got to there we found that there were actually a couple of Minke Whales as well as many Harbour Porpoises and a lot of feeding birds, Skuas, gulls, terns, kittiwakes, Fulmars. Looks as though the Minkes, Dolphins and Porpoises were enjoying the strong winds and big waves as much as we were, surfing and sometimes lunging right out of the water. Wonderful tour ;)
