Tour at 13:00

BEST TOUR OF THE SEASON SO FAR!! The wind had calmed down and wasn’t so painful on the face. We headed out offshore but didn’t have to travel very far before we were surrounded by White-Beaked Dolphins (50 to 100 individuals). They were just everywhere; leaping, breaching, bow riding, surfing the waves. It was fantastic to see so many. Then we headed offshore in search of the Minke Whales but on the way some passengers spotted some Harbour Porpoises which were also enjoying surfing the swells. Then we got a call from Hafsúlan saying they saw a Minke and off we go. The two Minke Whales from the morning were still there but a little easier to view, surfacing frequently and slowly allowing the passengers to get some great pictures. On the way back to the Harbour we saw another small pod of Harbour Porpoises and the Gannets however, now they were just sitting on the waters surface obviously full from the mornings feed. We also got to see one lonely Puffin which ended the tour perfectly, GREAT DAY!!

Tour at 09:00

Wow!! What a beautiful clear day. The wind was still quite strong and extremely cold but the visibility was amazing, being able to see Snæfellsjökull and the smoke rising from the erupting volcano. Both Hafsúlan and Elding went out today for both the 09:00 and 13:00 tour as we had a lot of passengers that had been waiting for the bad weather that cancelled the tours over the last couple of days to pass. As we were heading offshore we could see a large flock of feeding Gannets (30+) in the distance and there waiting for us were the Minke Whales, must have been about 2 or 3 in the area. So we had great encounter with these and watched them and the Gannets for most the tour. Sailing back to the harbour Hafsúlan also had an encounter with a small pod of Harbour Porpoises which ended the trip nicely.
