CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today we had good conditions at sea, although the strong winds were making us feel colder than usual! So we got overalls, handwarmers and hot drinks and off we went to look for cetaceans in the bay. We first went to the same spot we saw whales yesterday, but they were not there. Yet, we could have a beautiful view of Mount Esja and passed close by Lundey islet. We then spotted a blow in the distance, more towards the island of Engey and we we saw 2 humpback whales! These were Banana and Split, our beloved whale friends, swimming in sync and calmly. We could see them close and far while they would go for deep dives showing off their flukes. Then, on the way home we stopped by close to Viðey island, since there were about 6-8 harbour and grey seals! They were all very close and curious, swimming, pointing their head out of the water and looking at us. It was very fun to see them! We then continued our way home, very happy and chilly!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Out we went to find the whaly whales. It was still pretty windy during the afternoon, but still no snow or rain in sight. We started by checking around the Reykjavík islands, Engey, Videy and Lundey. On this last one, we got the suspicion of a weird white cap that turned out to be a blow! It came from 1 humpback whale, Banana! She/he was feeding, and it was very busy going back and forth. Every time it went down, it showed us the fluke, very politely, always. We soon saw another blow about 1km away, from another humpback. As we came close to it, we realized it was Split! They are normally together, but this afternoon they decided to go their separate ways. While we watched this last one, we stopped doing that when they came together again. Before we went back, we saw about 10 grey seals chilling on the rocks of Videy.
