CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey - It was by a grey morning but fair winds and calm seas that we started our sail out in the bay. On the way out we observed some bird life, mainly puffins flying around and other species of seabirds like gulls having a feast on the water surface. We headed deep into the bay toward an area where we had seen animals yesterday. We finally saw a few blows, there waere there 2 humpback whales. But actually they were not only 2 but at least 3 or 4 around here. We focused on these 2 humpback whales in the area for a while and even saw one showing its beautiful tail as it went down for a deeper dive. Then we moved slightly and there was another humpback. We could also stay with this one for sometime and even observed it very close at our starboard side. Whne it was time to start to head back we took a circle around the area to try our luck in other places. No luck, so we headed back homer after a beautiful tour full of whales and with slightly rocky seas.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00

Report from Hafsulan: We had to brave the rain this morning but was it worth it as we saw no less then 6 hampback whales on this tour! First we encountered a pair that stayed really close together, often surfacing side-by-side. This pair seemed to be resting as they came up to the surface very regularly and rarely dove down. We managed to stay close to them for a long time as we got to seem them surface over and over again. On multiple occasions their big white pectoral fins shining through the water surface. Eventually we moved onwards, to find a third humpback whale. As we stayed with this one for a bit, another blow emerged closeby. We then had to start heading back to port, happy with 4 humpback sightings. But then, completely unexpected, we found 2 more humpbacks! They were both in the same area so we spent a few more minutes looking at these individuals before officially ending our tour. What a day!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Coming out again this afternoon, the rain became the only bother of our tour. Quite quickly, we spotted several blows not far into the bay. We managed to stay along 2 consecutive humpback whales, both coming up and down, fluke diving for all to enjoy. One was at first logging peacefully, before breaching out straight in front of the whole crowd ! As we left these whales, we headed towards 2 pods of 7 white beaked dolphins, multiple mother-calf couples, several jumping out repeatedly, finishing our rainy tour on a high note.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 15:00

Report from Hafsulan: We embarked in drizzling rain and cold winds, heading out into the bay hoping to see that whales that have been feasting here the past week. Not long after, we spotted a blow in the distance, the first humpback whale sighting of the tour, or so we thought! It was actually a pair of humpbacks! They were calmly hanging out just below the surface, occasionally preforming synchronized fluke dives, and a sudden tail-slap. We then moved on, headed for one of the several blows we could see on the horizon, and were treated to quite a show! The humpback we were headed towards started breaching, head-slapping, pec-slapping, showing of almost all of their acrobatic behaviours. It finished off the show with a grand finale of pooping near the surface, showing our guests the whale pump in action. Satisfied with the show we were treated to, we headed back towards the harbour, spotting a minke whale briefly on the way back.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 20:30

Report from Eldey: This evening we sailed onto a calm ocean, but a rainy weather. However, that didn't stop us to make the most of our tour. Just after we left the port, we encountered a small pod of harbor porpoises. Even though they were as shy as always, we were able to have a clear view of the small group. Right after that, we encountered a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. They were very playful and we were able to stay with them for some time. After waving goodbye, we continued our sail and we saw a minke whale, we were able to see it for a couple of times before it disappeared underwater. On the distance we saw a blow so we decided to go and check it out. That was the first humpback whale of the tour. It was very focused on feeding so we decided to check a second one on the distance. This was a more relaxed individual. However, on the distance we saw the first one doing some pec and tail slaps. Very cool! Nonetheless, we had a long way back to the port so we sadly had to leave.
