CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: This morning we sailed out into Faxaflói bay and were met with a little bit of rain to start the day. The rain did not last long however and by the time we passed the islands just outside the harbour, the rain had cleared. As we were sailing we encountered our first sign of life in the bay: a large flock of birds! Hoping to spot a whale there too, we stopped for a bit to have a look around but we did not see any whales in this area so we continued our search. After a long search, we finally encountered a humpback whale! This whale was moving quite slowly, allowing us to get a good look at it. It even showed its tail flukes! But since time was running out, we sadly had to say goodbye to this humpback whale and we returned back to land happy with our bellies full of hot chocolate :)

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING I 13:00
Report from Eldey: We set off with a slight drizzle but soon the clouds parted and the sun could peak through. Not too long after we also spotted a blow! A humpback whale surfaced not too far ahead and after it went for a nice fluke dive it surfaced once again mere meters in front of our boat! it surfaced so close that surely the people in front must´ve felt the spray of its mighty blow! We continued to spend a good amount of time with this individual as we got to surface and fluke dive all around us. We then headed onwards, back towards Reykjavik, amazed with this afternoon´s tour.
