Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan and Elding: We had both of our whale watching vessel out this afternoon for the influx of passengers joining us. The weather was very much the same as the morning, the swells caused a little seasickness amongst some the passeners but most enjoyed the ride. We traveled more towards the north on the afternoon tour but once more did not see much life. We were on our way home however when anothe whale watching vessel contacted us, letting us know that they found a pod of white-beaked dolphins. It took us maybe 20 minutes to reach the area and it was the passengers that spotted them first. A large pod of 7-9 individual. There was even a calf (baby dolphin) with them which was absolutely adorable to watch. This pod of dolphins was incredible, so relaxed in their surfacing, came close to us on many occasions. Plenty of oportunities to get a variety of pictures, close up, in front of the other whale watching boat and the stunning snow covered landscape in the background. After a while we left them in peace and travelled home. The ride home was smooth and warm with the sun shining on our faces. Even got a little sun burnt today, the winters sun is also very powerful. A great afternoon.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: A beautiful day in 5-6m/s westerly winds, It had snowed recently so everything had fresh covering, the sun was out and we had blue skies for the whole tour. We could see the dark ominous clouds in the distance and see where it was snowing but throughout the tour is stayed away. We traveled to our favourite areas, searching thourghly. One area provided a few active seabirds and 1-2 harbour porpoises but not much else. We changed course and started to head home with the wind and swell behind us, enjoying a smooth journey. Near to the lighthouse Grótta we found another harbour porpoise that was wonderful to watch, slowly surfacing close to the boat so that everyone could see. No whale and dolphins means however that we offered our passengers complimentary tickets, which are good for two year.
