CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was a bit windy today but the sunshine warmed us up as we sailed into the bay. We reached an area with lots of seabirds, scattered in flocks all around us but we couldn't see any blows or backs underneath them. We then changed course to the Reykjanes peninsula to check out the south part of the bay, but we weren't successful there either unfortunately. To give everyone the chance to see a whale we therefore offered everyone a complimentary ticket to come on another tour.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from the RIBs: The wild life in Faxafloi seemed quiet on our morning tour today. There were no signs of birds or cetaceans for long time. One of our boat went toward south and the other covered the north side of the area. After quite of a ride, firstly on the north and then more west side, and about 11 miles from the shore, we spotted a humpback whale blow. When we stopped the boat, at the distance where we saw it, within a couple of seconds the humpback surfaced just in front of our boat! It was an amazing sight! We managed to see its white flippers, "bumps" on the head and a blowhole quite close. It had irregular diving pattern - diving for 8 minutes, then 1 minute, then 5. The whale was a bit zig-zaging in its moving, but in general, heading further out to the open ocean. Unfortunately, our other boat didn't have the same luck on the south side of the bay.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 12:00

Report from the RIBs: The conditions remained the same from this morning, a bit windy and choppy but still sunny. We headed to the area where a RIB saw a humpback whale this morning. When we got there we saw lots of birds which was a good sign that there was fish in the water. However, we unfortunately could not spot the whale. We stayed in the area for a few minutes just in case the individual was down on a deep dive but after a while with no sign, we decided to continue with our tour and look at different areas. We stopped by lots of big flocks of birds, hoping that there would be other animals below the water but couldn't see anything. In the end we ran out of time and had to head back to the harbour but not before stopping off at one of the puffin islands on our way in. All our passengers enjoyed the ride, despite not encountering any whales or dolphins and because we didn't spot anything we gave everyone a complimentary ticket to come again on a classic tour.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from the RIBs: On this tour we spotted numerous flocks of birds actively fishing, like fulmars, puffins and terns, as well as different seagulls and skua. It seemed quite promising, seeing all this fishing action going on, but unfortunately, no signs of cetaceans. We did our best, but, as well as the other whale watching boats out, we also didn't see any cetaceans. Complimentary tickets were issued.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: we had a very warm and sunny afternoon and the sea conditions were good. We tried our very best and the passengers were also involved and excited to spot a whale. However, after checking many different and distant areas, we could not spot any marine mammals in the bay. Instead, we passed by many flocks of seabirds around us, with arctic terns flying very close to our boat with small fishes in their mouth. At the end, we gave complimentary tickets to the passengers so they can have another chance of spotting our Faxaflói stars.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: What an amazing Icelandic summer day: Sunshine and a beautiful blue sky. Although, we had great visibility today, the wildlife seen on this tour was really rare. We saw seabirds as the lovely atlantic puffins, kittiwakes, northern gannets and northern fulmars. Unfortunately there wasn´t any sign of cetaceans. That´s why we offered complementary tickets to all our passengers to give them the chance to come with us on another tour.
