CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We set sail this morning under the bright sunshine—a nice change from the last days with grey skies. The view was absolutely breathtaking, with Snæfellsjökull standing tall on the horizon, covered with snow. As we cruised around the bay, we savored our morning coffees, feeling the cold sea. Unfortunately, despite our hopes, we weren?t able to spot any cetaceans this morning. But instead of letting the day go to waste, each guest received complimentary tickets to come back and try again hoping for a better encounter next time!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: with the sun shining on our faces and the fresh cold North winds we sailed out once more to explore the bay of Faxaflói. We went to explore a different area this afternoon and we headed towards Esja mountain. The views were amazing: the light on the mountains with that remaining snow on Esja kept us busy while looking for the whales. We went around this area but didn't get lucky. When going to another area towards Reykjavík, we encountered a pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins feeding. We knew they were feeding because of the fast movements they were doing, in different directions. The birds also gave away their position many times. If we were in doubt where they were, we just needed to look for the flock of birds again. These kittiwakes were taking advantage of the dolphins' food and, working together and diving on the surface to get some for them as well! The dolphins came super close to us, sometimes surfing with the waves and we could see them through the surface, in sync, when coming up for a breath. We continued our way to Reykjavík after spending a while more with them and enjoyed the sun while watching the snow in the mountains.
