CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning, mother nature graced us with a gift: the sun! As we sailed out of Reykjavík we were met with beautiful conditions, warm and calm wind, and sunshine. We had only been sailing for about 45 minutes when we spotted our first species, a lone humpback whale! This humpback was enjoying the sunshine quite close to land, just outside of Hvalfjörður, and we were able to stay with it for quite some time as it surfaced. Lucky for us, it didn't move far between dives so we could get a really good view of it every time it came up to the surface! But then it was time to move on, so we ventured further out into Faxaflói where we passed a small pod of 4-6 harbour porpoises! As we were sailing back home, a minke whale made a surprise appearance! We stopped to watch it for a little bit before returning to harbour happy and slightly sunburnt after a great morning :)

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: This afternoon's tour took us deep into hvalfjörður, where the sun was shining, the sea was flat and the wind was still. In the fjord we found no less than 5 harbour porpoises and 2 humpback whales! One humpback deep into the fjord, surfacing very often after very short dives. The second whale was near the mouth of the fjord and it surprised us on or way back out again with a majestic fluke dive! We had a great time out at sea and so we could happily sail back towards a sunny Reykjavik.
