✔ CLASSIC WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey : Today the weather was kind of good with an excellent sea condition, no wind, but was ruined by a very thick fog making the spotting very complicated. We started to go to the whale fjord where we found whales yesterday. If there was birds and we felt there was probably a minke in the area we could not find it. We went further west and communicating with another boat heared that there was a humpback whale. But the time we arrived the humpback had disappear into the fog and we could not find it. We went back and offered to our passengers a complimentary ticket. It was still a nice morning on a very calm sea and we could observe many birds, even the first pufflings getting out of there burrows to explore the bay.

✔ CLASSIC PUFFIN TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 10:00

✔ PREMIUM WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 10:00

Report from Þruma: The sea conditions were great however, there was a dense fog that sat on the bay which heavily reduced visibility. We made sure to move slowly through some key areas slightly closer to home, paying careful attention to any disturbances and sounds. On our journey, large splashes were visible through the fog and it soon became clear that a humpback whale lobtailing was responsible. The whale was lifting its large fluke and slapping it to the ocean surface repeatedly and all of a sudden, had vanished. We searched the area very slowly as the whale couldn't have moved too far away and soon enough encountered the individual once again. This time, we saw the whale surface a few times on our left, then it changed its course, moving towards our boat and dove directly beneath our RIB. The large pectoral fins and fluke visible from only a couple metres below. The humpback then surfaced on our right and moved on. After this, we continued on our way as more boats joined and we found a small group of  3-4 harbour porpoises

Report from Eldey : If the condition were very similar in the beginning of the tour, calm sea but very foggy, the visbility increased slowly during the tour and we had a very nice view on the bay in the end. We first encountered a minke whale, that was pretty close to our boat. We let this one for another minke whale further away to get away from another boat. We observed it surfacing a few times but very quickly our attention was attracted by something else : a humpback whale. We approached it and the animal was swimming quite fast but surfacing often, with a fluke dive at every dive. We had a nice moment observing it. We were not sure if the animal was feeding or travelling, probably both. It was surfacing in a strange way sometimes, very vertically and fast. We saw another blow away from us a decided to find it. It was a bit complicated the animal was not showing itself, but we finally found it. This humpback whale was difficult to find because it was resting, staying near the surface without blow or fluke dive. We saw it from very close, almost at reach of a hand, relaxed at the surface. We went back very happy of our encounters.

✔ PREMIUM PUFFIN TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

✔ PREMIUM WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 14:00

Report from Þruma: The fog which affected the mornings visibility had dissipated by the afternoon, providing ideal conditions in combination with the flat sea. We headed to the same area we had our morning encounters but on our way out, encountered a lone minke whale that decided to only show itself a couple of times. We didn't wait too long, as we had heard of a humpback whale in the area via radio communication with other boats. We found the humpback feeding as the movements were unpredictable and the whale moved at speed. Many times, we saw the whale at the surface as it took around three breaths before lifting its fluke for a deep dive. It remained out of sight momentarily before returning to the surface. Another humpback was seen half a kilometre away and we decided to check on this individual. This whale was displaying a very relaxed behaviour as it laid at the surface and hardly moved. The whale may have been sleeping or resting.

✔ PREMIUM WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 20:00

Report from Þruma: The conditions continued into the evening and we had another amazing tour. We headed towards the area we had the sightings from earlier tours and on our way discovered a large of birds with a humpback whale feeding energetically beneath them. The whale was lunge feeding and bursting to the surface with open jaws. After some time we decided to head further out and immediately came across a minke whale to our left and another humpback whale to the right. We chose the humpback as it was showing more of itself and we were disappointed. The whale fed many times lunging under a small group of arctic terns who were quick to take under advatrnage of the whales hard work.
