CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: What a beautiful day for a whale-watching trip. Although it usually takes us some time before we have our first encounter, that really didn't matter today because we had the beautiful landscape to enjoy on our way out into the bay. The visibility was incredible so we were confident to find some cetaceans today. When we reached an area where we saw that there were a lot of fish around us, we stopped to scan the surface in more detail. Suddenly, we saw a big black back and a short dorsal fin coming out of the water! Almost certain that this was a humpback whale, we waited for it to surface again. We waited and waited, but this individual was diving very long, probably busy feeding on all the fish around us. After more than 20 minutes, we decided to try our luck in another area, and we found a minke whale! The minke whale surfaced very often, so we could enjoy the animal for a long time. The whale didn't stay far away from our boat - it usually came up around 30 to 50 meters away from us! We even saw some lunges as the whale was feeding on fish at the surface. This experience was unforgettable and we are very glad to have had the opportunity to show the beauty of Iceland's whales to our passengers today.
