CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed under cloudy skies into a calm bay with wind blowing in our faces. Soon enough, we passed by one minke whale who was darting around the bay. We lost sight of the minke, so we moved on to find a blow not far away in the distance. We arrived there and saw a relaxed humpback whale. We didn't want to disturb this whales' slumber, so we moved on to 3 other humpbacks we had spotted up ahead. As we were getting closer, we could see the 3 individuals spy hop and roll around, presumably feeding and coralling prey just under the surface! We watched these whales in awe before we moved on to find an additional 3 humpback whales, where we saw even more spyhops and feedings. Whilst all of this was happening, we could spot 15+ minke whales and more humpbacks in the background going about their day, and when we began heading towards land, we found two more humpback whales that we spent some time with! In total, we must have seen over 13 humpback whales during this tour. There were whales everywhere! We returned to harbour feeling incredibly happy after such an amazing tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING l 11:00

Report from Elding: We left port in calm, somewhat cloudy conditions, heading into the bay to spot some cetaceans. We spotted our first blow rather quickly, a humpback whale amid a flock of seabirds, going for periodic deep dives, showing us its beautiful fluke each time. We were distracted by another blow in the area, and headed over to investigate, leaving this individual to continue feeding. We were treated to not just another humpback, but a trio of humpbacks! This small group was travelling together slowly, resting near the surface, giving us an excellent view of their long, bright pectoral fins just under the surface. We moved on from this chill trio and spotted a minke whale. It was a bit of a challenge to keep up with this sneaky whale, but we managed to get a few good, close looks at this rather elusive individual. We then headed towards yet another blow in the area, which turned out to be a pair of humpbacks travelling together! After spending a lovely couple minutes with these two, we started heading back towards the port, surrounded by blows and the occasional minke, satisfied with our sightings. We even had another rather active humpback whale as a fitting finale to such a lucky tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: The day began with cloudy skies and calm seas, a perfect combination for a smooth departure. After some searching, we began to notice spouts in the distance—blows rising into the air, signaling the presence of whales. As we drew closer, we were excited to discover a group of humpback whales feeding together. It was a mesmerizing sight, watching these magnificent creatures working as a team in their search for food. A few minke whales also made a quick appearance. We spent some time observing various individuals, each with its unique characteristics and behavior. It was a peaceful, almost meditative experience, as we carefully moved from one whale to the next, never overstaying our welcome but always appreciating the beauty in every interaction. The real highlight came toward the end of our trip when we encountered a trio of whales. Among them was a pair—mom and baby—two of the most endearing figures you can imagine. The baby, full of energy and curiosity, put on an unforgettable show. It breached multiple times, its little body launching into the air with incredible enthusiasm. The sight of this playful youngster was both heartwarming and exhilarating, a perfect ending to our day on the water.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 15:00

Report from Elding: We set sail with calm seas, a  nice cool breeze, and some sunshine! It was not too long until we saw the blow of a humpback whale! When we approached this whale impressed us with a nice fluke dive. To see their unique pattern under their fluke so close was really special. While awaiting this humpbacks return we spotted two humpback whales together and decided to investigate. Two humpbacks together is always a special sight to see. After some nice surface sequences, these humpbacks also showed us both of their flukes nice and close. We knew we had found a good feeding spot as while with these humpbacks there were blows in the distance and at least 2 minke whales surfacing periodically. We then came across another 3 humpback whales feeding in one area, 2 of which formed a pair right in front of us! They even came nice and close to inspect us! This was excellent as we could see their entire bodies through the water, especially their white pectoral fins! On such a high note we counted ourselves lucky and headed back to port, what a successful tour!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00

Report from Hafsulan: The sun was blazing by now—no clouds to be seen, just bright, clear skies and that intense summer warmth. As we made our way to the active feeding grounds from earlier, a quick surprise came in the form of a minke whale that surfaced super close to the boat before vanishing just as fast. It was a brief but thrilling encounter, and it left us all on edge, wondering what might come next. Sure enough, the humpback whales were still there, still feeding like crazy. There was an even more impressive spectacle this time as a group of six humpbacks gathered in the same area, working together in perfect synchronicity.  To top it off, a pod of white—beaked dolphins joined the feeding frenzy, weaving in and out between the whales.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 20:30

Report from Elding: With the sun low in the sky and a cool breeze, we bundled up and set sail out into the bay, our anticipation palpable. We had an unexpected and exciting sighting with one minke whale breaching! We had multiple surface sequences from this minke, and they even came close to inspect the boat. The water was so clear we could see their body and those beautiful minke mittens from the surface! Although this was a treat, conditions were a bit more rocky then expected, and so on this high note we decided it was best to return to port. What an evening on the bay indeed.
