Tour at 17:00

We started at the Puffin island Lundey but there were not so many Puffins there. On our way out to the bay we spotted a Minke Whale very close to shore. This Minke whale was in a very good mood. Came very close and surfacing regularly. Then we headed further out to the bay. After searching for some time we spotted another Minke whale but it only surfaced 3 times before disappearing. The captain spotted some White-beaked dolphins further away, and when we came closer we saw they had a small calf with them so it was difficult to get close to them. Then finally we did.....or they came closer to us. Because it is always the whales choice how close we can get to them. We stayed with them for some time before we headed back to the harbor. Very nice tour.

Tour at 14:00

We sailed out on Elding in good weather and fairly calm seas. Visibility was god and the wind was slowing down. We started our tour by visiting the Puffin colony at Lundey and saw quite a few Puffins there. We had heard about a Minke Whale roaming around the closer area of Lundey and we found it very close, were it was most likely feeding. This was after 15-20 minutes sailing. This whale was really nice to watch and it came up many times and everybody on the boat saw it fairly close to the vessel.  We then headed further out and spotted two Minke Wales on the way. We also saw a few Harbor porpoises Before the dived and got away from sight. We could not come very close to these Minke Wales and we headed toward a flock of Diving Gannets about 6 nautical miles out. There were quite a few birds in the area too, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns, Skuas, Gulls, Puffins and Guillemots. The gannets put on a diving show and there was a lot of fish in the area. We saw a Minke Wale there and then headed back to land and sighted two Minke Wales on the way back without getting closer to them than 150-200 meters. We caught some rain in the end of the tour. So in the end the best sighting was the one close to Lundey but in total we saw about 4-5 Minke Wales. This was a beautiful tour in Faxaflói.

The weather was a little bit wet for the start of this tour. Raining, overcast but not so windy which was great. We first got word of a Minke Whale that was close to Lundey (Puffin Island). The Minke was fantastic, surfacing many times and sometimes close to the boat too. We watched this Minke for a long time because we knew from previous tours that there weren´t many in the bay. But we did give it a bit of a break when we visited the Puffins and that was pretty cool too because we saw hundreds of them. Not so nice to see the Skuas and the Gulls chasing them but that nature for you. We saw the Minke again for a while before doing a sweep of Faxaflói to see what else is about. Great Tour.

Tour at 09:00

In very nice weather, calm sea and the sun was peaking out from the clouds, we sailed out to Faxaflói. After sailing for 40 minutes we spotted some splashes in a distance. When we got closer we saw a group of White-beaked dolphins, and a nice one. They came very close to the boat, surfacing all around us. Very nice and active group. We stayed with them fore some time and enjoyed them a lot. Then we headed further out looking for Minke whale. We searched for a long time but we only spotted one Minke Whale. Unfortunately no one of our passengers was able to see this whale because it surfaced only two times very far away before disappearing. But on our way back, one of our passengers spotted a group of White-beaked dolphins. This group was also very nice to us. So very nice dolphin tour.
