Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: with the clearest and bluest skies we prepared ourselves with cozy overalls to sail far out and find our favorite animals! The cold but very weak breeze and the snowy top of the mountains told us that summer was over, but the it is beautiful to see the landscape around us changing with the season. We continued our way into the bay until we spotted a few splashes ahead of us: at first, we had a pod of 3 white-beaked dolphins, but as we spent some time with them, we notice that this pod was growing and growing, and we were suddenly surrounded by them, with a total of 7 to 10 dolphins. They were swimming to different directions, but mostly around the same area. That indicated us that they were feeding, and we enjoyed to stay a bit with them checking their behaviours. Then, some of them started to jump next to the boat, making big splashes and really putting on a show to us! After spending a while with them, we saw we were running out of time and started our way back to Reykjavík, but still staying outside to enjoy the sun.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: It was with very calm seas that we started our sail this afternoon. We navigated for some time underneath the icelandic sun before finding our first species : a pod of white beaked dolphins ! They were about 10, bow riding the waves of the boat and traveling with us while displaying all sorts of behaviors : social behaviors, feeding behavior, and finally some nice jumps and head slaps ! It was a very nice sighting and we could stay with them for a while. After some time we started travelling around the bay on the look for something else. We sailed, started to approach Reykjavik when we heard of a boat that had seen another species, we stopped with that boat and here it was - a minke whale ! We saw this individual for a few surface sequence before we unfortunately had to head back to shore. A lovely sighting to end the trip.
