CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Calm seas ahead, a cold northern wind and a sunrise like no other. We started the tour looking for some fun whales. Lately, we've been lucky around the islands of Reykjavík and today was no different! About 30 minutes into whale searching we whale found! It was a humpback whale, Banana her name was! It was being lazy, like coming out of bed lazy. It did a few lazy fluke dives and came close to the boat to check us out. After a while, we sailed around looking for more stuff, but nothing else was spotted and we came back to the harbour soon after.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The first afternoon of March 2026 was a beautiful one! Clear blue skies and snow covered mountains. The only thing stopping it from being perfect was the northerly winds but that's Iceland! We headed out of the harbour and passed Engey and Videy searching for cetaceans. Then, between Videy and Lundey, we spotted something floating at the surface of the water. It was a very sleepy humpback whale. It spent a lot of time relaxing at the surface so everyone had plenty of opportunity to see it. Suddenly, it woke up and did an odd diagonal fluke dive but this meant we could confirm it was our friend Banana. Once Banana came back to the surface, they were back to resting/sleeping again. We spent some time watching this sleeping beauty until some other whale watching boats arrived and we continued our search past the islands. Unfortunately, we didn't spot any other whales or dolphins but it was a lovely sail in the winter sun. As we travelled back to the harbour, we all warmed up with hot chocolates!
