CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:OO

Report from Elding: With some westerly winds and a relatively high swell, there was a bit of movement of the boat today. The sky was cloudy, but the visibility still very good and we could even see Snæfellsjökull clearly today. Our first sighting was of a pod of around 7-8 white-beaked dolphins with some calves that were moving fast and at some point even jumping playfully. We went a bit further out, on the way encountering many different species of seabirds close to the boat. We then came across a different pod of 4 dolphins, these individuals even more curious and swimming within a meter of our boat. After this encounter we caught a quick glimpse of 4 harbour porpoises before we headed back to Reykjavík harbour.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from the Ribs: The perfect conditions of recent days now felt like a distant memory as the wind blew from the west driving a one metre plus swell through the bay. The conditions were nothing that we couldn't handle, but were a stark contrast to last week. We journeyed carefully through the oncoming waves and came across a pod of white-beaked dolphins that included a couple of young calves. The dolphins showed some interest in our presence as they moved within 10-15 metres of our position but never came any closer. They appeared to be happy to continue with their own business and were soon lost. We continued to search extensively for whales but did not have any luck. Complimentary tickets were issued as a result.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Elding: This tour has been a roller coaster! A literal one, but also an emotional one! When we left the harbour we were surprised to find temperatures quite tolerable, but also some strong and short swell. The way out was consequently rocky, which made sure to give us a taste of the North Atlantic ocean! We sailed on an empty sea for most of the excursion, and suddenly we crossed our paths with a pod of about 8 white-beaked dolphins, including 2 very young calves. They were jumping out of the water, some performing large leaps, generating a tremendous amount of splash on the ocean surface. It was so fascinating to watch some curious individuals who swam towards us, under and around the vessel, especially people standing in the bow of our vessel got a really close look when they approached the vessel. Picture time was then! Patience worked, and we had a brilliant time until we had to go back home.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from the Ribs: The conditions remained much of the same as over one metre waves rolled through due to the strong westerly wind. We headed to the same locations of the mornings sightings but found no sign of the dolphins. Cutting a zig-zag pattern through our key searching areas to ensure we had tried our best we were soon disheartened when time had expired and we needed to turn back to the harbour. Complimentary tickets were then issued.
