Report from Eldey: We went out on the bay in beautiful sunny weather with quite a strong and cold wind from the north. We started out neat the islands and made our way in the direction of Akranes along the northern coast of Faxaflói bay. We found a promising flock of seabirds in one spot but no whales where with them, so we continued our search. Some more active birds and splashes at the surface indicated some cetacean activity and a small pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins could be seen on the surface. They where moving fast and disappeared among the waves shortly after we called them out. We searched the area for the dolphins and found 1 harbor porpoise popping up near the boat, disappearing quickly in the foamy seas. Even thought the wind made the tour quite challenging, we had a great view on the the mountains and the coast. At the end of the tour, we offered complementary tickets to our guest to join us again on another tour to see the whales of Faxaflói.
