Tour at 17:00

The sea and the weather just got better and we spotted a spectacular group of dolphins, they were just a few meters away from the boat, showing us their body very well.  We also spotted 7 minke whales around. Sometimes we could see them coming up two together. On the way back to the harbour we spotted a minke whale very close to the shore. A great end to a perfect whale watching day :D

Tour 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was another very good tour with still a very excellent weather; sea flat and calm also further out in Faxaflói Bay. We sailed again to Akurey where still a few Puffins were visible moving around and then we went to the whales. Still a lot of Minke whales, some easier to follow some a bit more elusive and then we also had a very nice pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins, which were breaching and fast surfacing!

Report from Elding: A great tour with lots of minke whales all around the bay. We shortly spotted a small group of harbour porpoises and later on we saw in a distance a group of dolphins jumping many times so we could see the splashes which was quite exiting to watch. On the way back to the harbour we spotted again a minke whale which was breathing so we could find the intense fishy smell of the blow.

Tour 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was a very good weather today; sunny and almost no wind. We sailed out first to the feeding ground where we actually have a very nice time. Several Minke whales were there and especially one, a very large Minke whale, stayed with us for a very long time. We spotted first while it was just moving around then it headed towards a large flock of feeding seabirds and then it even started actively feeding, displaying two lateral arches and a plunge (all feeding behaviours!).

Report from Elding This was a very good tour. Actively lunge feeding minke whales going for feeding strikes and showing in belly up. The weather was also perfect and the sea was completely calm. The whales came close to the boat so we could see the white stripe flippers underneath the water.
