CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 0900

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into Faxafloi this morning, and man, it was gorgeous. The sun was just rising, and the sky had this super bright orange glow that made the water look like it was on fire. Seriously, it was like we were sailing through a painting. We headed over to Hafnarfjordur, and as soon as we got there, we spotted a humpback whale! It was feeding, and while it didn’t do any fluke dives, it came really close to the boat. Everyone on board was stoked—there’s just something about being that close to such a massive animal. After a while, we had to turn around and head back to Reykjavik. By then, the sun was out in full force, and with the wind at our backs, it actually started to feel kinda warm. I could almost pretend it was spring—definitely starting to feel like it’s on its way!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We headed out with beautiful weather, the sun was shining, the sea was quite calm. The way to Hafnarfjördur was nice, with information about all the surrounding volcanos and mountains. As we arrived close to the harbor of the fishing town, we spotted a blow. A Humpback Whale! The same we saw in the tour before, he was still there. It was surfacing a lot and 1 time showed his fluke just a little bit. It also came close to our boat a few times and when it came close to a small inflatable boat, that was also present, they decided to leave afterwards. But as always, all good things must come to an end, so we headed back to Reykjavik, happy about the great encounter with the whale.
