All whale watching tours are on schedule today from Reykjavík! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: Under the starry morning sky, we set sail excited to see who was out there! The sun was beginning to rise creating this orange glow behind the mountains and then the sky was an array of pinks and purples. We sailed around the islands because we had been very successful recently in this area, however, it seemed like our cetaceans had moved out and so too did we. We continued our journey now into the bay, when, after a while, we spotted a blow! Getting closer to it, we even spotted one more! We had definitely located the zone of feeding, with about 4  solitary humpback whales and even two solitary minke whales popping up periodically. We decided to focus on one humpback whale and this whale was spending a very short time under the surface. After multiple surface sequences, we were show the fabulous fluke! This individual then surfaced nice and close, and it was amazing to be able to hear them take a breath! With multiple sightings and some really close encounters with this individual, unfortunately it was time to start heading back. So we waved our cetaceans goodbye and headed back to port. What a great way to start the morning!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: Splendid conditions in light of that it is November. We spotted 2 harbour porpoises on the way to where we had seen whales in the morning but their tiny bodies soon vanished into the swell so we proceeded into the bay in search of something larger. We then spotted not only one, but about 3 blows in the distance! We got closer to one of them to find out a humpback whale, super fast and beautiful coming up to the surface! This one would go for a deep dive and then pop up in a different distance and direction, making it a bit tricky to track. Then, we went to spot the other whale and this was one easier, coming even closer!
