Tour at 17:00

Very nice and calm the sea during our late afternoon tour. In our first part of the tour we could observe al least 5 minke whales, some were surfacing in the same area and were showing the black backs and the pointed dorsal fins. In the second part of the tour instead we had quite a lot of white-beaeked dolphins that were relly active, some jumped, while some others were fast tarvelling following us on the side and even surfing the waves!

The wind picked up a bit this afternoon. The whales were still out there, quite numerous the minke whales, were gathering close to a very large group of feeding gannets, which were dropping down into the water really fast. We also had the chance to spot two group of white-beaked dolphins surfing the waves, and fast surfacing not that far from us.

Tour at 9:00

The sea conditions were much better than the one we expected: no big waves and just few white sprays. The had two main sightings. In the first area we had around four minke whales, fast surfacing in front of us. We could spot them easily becasue also their blow was visible today. Then we had our second stop close to a very large flock of lesser black backed gulls, kittiwakes and puffins and there we observed around 10 minke whales feeding. I t was very spectacular to see all these minke whales gathering together: some were jumping mouth open, other were rolling underwater so that the pinkish belly was visible and some were approaching so much that even the white band on the side flippers was visible!
