Tour at 20:30

Could not believe how calm the sea looked on this tour just after a couple of hours of it blowing a gale. We started at Akurey to see the Puffins and most were sitting on the waters surface rather than on the Island itself. Then we headed out into Faxaflói Bay, kept going, kept going, kept going. We did see a Minke in the distance but we never got a glimpse as we got closer. Alas no luck and we headed back to Reykjavik. After about 30 minutes of sailing we were losing hope and then suddenly the captain informed me of a Minke in front. O.M.G. what an amazing Minke Whale. Surfaced many times and even 10-15 meters from the boat. Could not believe it especially after the hard day of not finding anything. The lit up city of Reykjavik set the mood for the perfect ending to the tour!!

The wind was still blowing when we headed out to Lundey the puffin island. We saw some puffins around the island so a good start of the tour. But then we had to search for a long time without any luck. So yet again we offered our passengers a complimentary ticket and we hope to see them all again in the future.

Report from Hafúlan: We started the tour by visiting Lundey, the puffin island. Many puffins flying around the island this afternoon but not so many on the island it self. Then the search for the whales began. After a while we saw splashes in a distance, but when we got closer we did not see anything so we headed further out. No luck this tour so we offered our passenger complimentary tickets

Report from Elding: The sea was a little rough today but it was smooth sailing with the wind on the way out and only rough on the way back to the harbour. We started at Akurey to say hello to the Puffins which were in abundance. The Minke Whales were a little bit more difficult. Only saw one blow from a Minke on this tour and got word from our sister vessel of another but the whale didn't surface for a while even before we got there. Not a very good whale tour but a fantastic seabird one, but complimentary tickets all round.

Seabirds seen on these tours include; Gannets, Guillemots, Razorbills, Puffins, Arctic Skuas, one Great Skua, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gulls, Arctic Terns, Storm Petrels, Manx Shearwaters and Eider Ducks.
