CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Moments after we boarded the ship in Hafnarfjördur a humpback whale surfaced. This was so cool. We then waited for the second bus to arrive before we could set off but we got to see some fantastic surfacing whilst this whale was feeding. It is so nice to have the birds as such an obvious bio-indicator as to when and where the whale will surface. These birds were black headed gulls giving us the clues. We then set off out into the bay to find other wildlife. After about 10 minutes of sailing we found a second humpback whale. This whale proved to be a bit elusive at first, it was potentially resting. But it then sprung into action appearing regularly all around us and showing us it´s beautiful fluke. A couple of times it came so close to our boat all I could see from the guide box was the blow. I think some of the blow even hit us! After spending some time with this individual we headed back into the harbour to see our original humpback. We saw this one surface many times again before docking. This was a really cool tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:OO

Report from Eldey: Today we sailed out from Hafnarfjordur. We were still anchored and a Humpback whale was already just a few meters from the boat. There was a whale inside the harbour. We spent a lot of time with this individual and followed him outside of the harbour. When we reached the end of the  harbour another Humpback whale appeared. At this moment we spent a lot of time with this individuals and one of them even breached bringing joy to everyone on the boat. Eventually we had to come back after a very good whale watching trip.
