Report from Eldey: Beautiful afternoon Iceland gave us. The tour started with the rarest sighting these days: the sun. Sunshine blessed waters, good winds and clear skies were allowing us to enjoy Faxaflói bay at its finnest. The snow capped landscape became the perfect frame from where to look for our beloved whales and dolphins. The ride went smoothly with a moderate swell. We crossed our paths with big flocks of seagulls and fulmars, and some shags and cormorants were also joining the way. At some point we were lucky enough to get to see a harbour seal, quite far away from the coast. We searched for three hours but unfortunately our efforts were not rewarded with the prize of the sightings, so a complementary ticket was offered to everyone that would like to join us for one more ride with Elding to search for the whales.

Bird species seen today include: Great northern diver, glaucous gull, eider duck, herring gull, black headed gull, northern gannet, common guillemot, black guillemot
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. There is a strong undercurrent in the ocean now so there could be some movement out on the bay today after the bad weather that we have been having for the past days, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
