Tour at 20:30

The evening tour was just as expected and more. The sunset was breath-taking with the vibrant oranges and wispy clouds. The whales were great as well. It took us about 40 minutes to get to were the Minke Whales were and once again they were surface feeding, lunging out of the water mouth full of sand eels. We must have seen this behaviour at least 8-10 times but sometimes it was just beneath the surface so all you saw was the splash. Saw maybe 4-6 Minkes on this tour but after about 30 minutes of seeing all these birds and these Minkes there was nothing seen the rest of the tour until we got to Akurey to see the Puffins. Just amazing that nature can be active and diverse one minute and nothing the next. All in All, Excellent tour.

Tour at 17:00

Perfect whale watching weather: hardly any wind left and beautiful light for pictures. There were lots and lots of Minke whales as well as jumping Harbour Porpoises all over the Faxaflói bay, at some point we were surrounded by 4-5 individuals popping up all around the clock and even surface feeding in a big flock of birds. Meanwhile, the Arctic Skuas were busy taking the fish from the seagulls above. One passenger took a fantastic picture of a sandeel falling from a gulls beak and both birds diving after it to catch it. Of course, we also visited Akurey and saw loads of Puffins. Lots of fun and excitement!

Tour at 13:00

Those whales just did not want to let us leave! As soon as we reached the whale watching area out in the Faxaflói bay some Harbour Porpoises appeared right next to our boat. Heading further out, it was not long until that we spotted a big flock of birds and a surface feeding Minke whale right in the middle of it. There were also two other Minkes around on all sides of the boat and more Porpoises. We were very sad when we had to head back, but only 5 minutes on the way home, White-beaked dolphins were splashing 200 metres next to us and we checked them out on the way back and got about 30 metres next to them. Leaving them, yet another Minke and two more Porpoises surfaced 50 metres away on our left side. Three species and calm weather, a really nice trip!

Tour at 09:00

A little bit windy on this tour but the whales and seabirds loved it. After 30-40 minutes of sailing we found a flock of feeding seabirds and a surface feeding Minke Whale. Must have seen at least 6-8 Minkes in this tour and they came really close to our boat 10-15 meters on a couple of occasions. We also had a lot of Harbour Porpoises that were being really interactive. We ended the tour perfectly at Puffin Island with thousands of Puffins flying around and sitting on the waters surface, Excellent tour.
