Tour Status 19:00: CANCELLED

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was much better than this morning, with the wind having died down by the time we left the harbour. Despite this, there was still quite a lot of swell and quite a few people felt ill. Fortunately, some of their sickness was soon forgotten when we had a minke whale surface very close to the boat, less than 50 metres away! It only popped up a couple of times but it was so close and the water was so clear that you could see the white patches on its pectoral fins. After a couple of false starts we also had a great encounter with a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins. They initially seemed to be resting as they were surfacing very slowly and staying in mostly the same area, but we apparently aroused their curiousity as they approached the boat several times - much to our delight! It was a splendid encounter, with the dolphins staying for quite a while and for the most part staying very close to us. As we turned around to return to harbour, there were beaming smiles on all of our faces.

Tour Status 17:00: RUNNING

The tour at 5 pm will be running today. We are still expecting the seas to be a bit rough, and we do have motion sickness tablets at the ticket office that you can get free of charge.

Tour Status 13:00 and 14:00: CANCELLED

We unfortunately have to cancel our whale watching tours at 1 and 2PM due to unfavourable conditions at sea. The weather forecast was better than the weather actually is now so unfortunately it is too windy to sail out. It is supposed to calm down later on so we are hoping to being able to sail out again at 5 and 7PM according to schedule.

Tour at 10:00

Report from Hafsúlan: As expected winds were very strong today and we got a good mix of rain and sunshine. To avoid the very rough seas we searched areas heading towards Akraness. While we got a great tour of all the areas around Reykjavík, especially the Puffin Island called Lundey, we saw no whales. Thus we offered everyone a complementary ticket to come with us again on one of our whale watching tours either from Reykjavík or from Akureyri within the next two years.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Eldey: This tour we experienced quite rough seas and a strong and fresh breeze in Faxafloi. But this of course is something you can expect when you go on a vessel around a country called "Iceland". Although most of us enjoyed the ride, we were still disappointed that we did not have a good look at any whales or dolphins on this trip. The animals seemed to have moved to another area. But as we all know: This is nature. So we took it easy and made the best out of our time on the boat. We enjoyed the birdlife, the taste of the salty Atlantic Ocean on our lips caused by some bigger splashes and of course the sun which came out from time to time to remind us that we still have Icelandic summer.

Tour Status 9:00 and 10:00: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjvik today. It is quite windy today  but the wind direction is in our favour. Still the sea conditions are quite rough. If you are sensitive to seasickness we do provide seasickness tablets in our ticket office as well as on board of our boats. We hope you will be able to join us today on our search for these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
