CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00
Report form Hafsulan: We started our tour under cloudy skies and calm seas. On our way towards the open waters, it wasn´t long before we spotted our first minke whale. Less than a mile from that point we encountered our first humpback whale. We spent some time observing it before continuing on in search for another individual and soon we fond it. Our second humpback whale. After staying with it through a few fluke dives, we made our way back toward Reykjavik harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 11:00
Report from Elding: Despite the light rain at the start of the day, we had great weather in our morning tour, with calm seas and good visibility. As we set sail deep into the bay, it didn't take along until we saw our first species, white-beaked dolphins. They were a small group, with less than ten dolphins, but were still curious enough to approach our boat and investigating us. As the dolphins started leaving the area, a new species showed up, two humpback whales. These two large whales remained in this area, feeding on fish, while a big flock of seabirds (kittiwakes, terns and fulmars) followed them around, trying to catch whatever fish remained. We had one more (quick) encounter with a third humpback whale, before returning to the harbour, happy with our encounters.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 13:00
Report from Háfsulan: "Total amazement" might be the only way to describe how we felt after a tour like this one. When we set out into the sunny bay this afternoon, none of us could have predicted the show we were about to witness - one so extraordinary that even our captain said he had never seen anything like it. After an early glimpse of a minke whale's back breaking the surface, and a humpback whale fluke diving, we noticed splashes on the horizon. As we approached the splashes grew - and suddenly we saw a young humpback whale launching its entire body into the air. We stayed and watched, completely mesmerized, as it breached again and again - not once or twice, but at least 20 to 30 times! It was unstoppable. Between breaches, it rolled and slapped its long, white pectoral fins on the surface, making loud sounds. The entire boat, including the crew, stood in full awe. It felt like we were witnessing something truly special. Eventually, the energy of this whale faded, and we let it be to rest. On the way back to the harbour, we spotted another minke whale and a large humpback whale diving close to the boat. We could all tell this one was much bigger than the playful, breaching one from earlier. We stayed for a little, soaking in the last sightings, before heading back home with huge smiles on our faces. This was definitely a tour to remember!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 15:00
Report from Elding: in our afternoon tour the sun rose from the beginning to the end and off we wet to spot any cetaceans, since the sea conditions were amazing! It did not take long when we spotted the first blow, and by the tail we knew we had a humpback whale! How amazing was to see it close to us. At some point, it disappeared and we saw big bubbles right on the front of our boat, followed by this enormous individual popping out next to us!! It was bubble net feeding, an unique behaviour of the humpies amongst the big baleen whales. We then headed to another blow, to find out Davy Jones also feeding, but using a peduncle throw and tail slap that we could see it even from afar, continuing when we got there, allowing us to see all the details on its tail. Davy also rolled, showing us the big pectoral fins once. Not far from there, a curious minke whale popped up right next to the front of the boat, multiple times, giving us a beautiful look of its belly through the surface! So amazing! We then saw gigantic splashes on the distance: a pod of 15 to 20 white beaked dolphins swimming around! The smaller dorsal fins ere and there told us we had juveniles as well. They even surfed with the swell, having fun! On the way back, we even spotted another minke whale passing by. What an amazing tour!!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 17:00
Report from Hafsulan: We set course towards the open waters under cloudy skies and calm seas. On our way we spotted two minke whales that were both feeding in the area. We let them be and continued our search for something bigger. Not long after we found our first humpback whale. We stayed with it for about 20 min and respectfully let it in its peace. Les than a mile away of it we encountered two more humpback whales that were feeding and searing beat with many sea birds. We enjoyed the show until the time was up.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 20:30
Report from Elding: We headed out under the glow of the midnight sun — a magical start to the tour. Just outside the harbour, a small group of harbour porpoises passed by, surfacing briefly before continuing on. We pressed on in search of something bigger and soon spotted a minke whale. It came in close while feeding, giving us a great look. As we scanned the area, we realized there were at least six more minkes nearby, actively moving and feeding. Not long after, a distant blow caught our eye — a humpback whale. We changed course and arrived to find it feeding with great energy, stirring up the water and attracting a frenzy of birds. Two more humpbacks were nearby, and we took the time to get a good look at all three.
