Tour at 13:00
Report from Eldey: The strong winds which led to the cancellation of our tour yesterday had subsided, leaving behind a long swell on an otherwise smooth sea. Overcast conditions also meant that spotting conditions were excellent. On our outbound journey many fulmars were soaring over a particular area and we approached slowly hoping to spot a fin appear but after a few moments of patiently waiting we decided to head away. Another whale watching company searching in a different zone then radioed to inform us of a cetacean sighting within a reasonable distance. As we drew closer the fins of white beaked dolphins gracefully broke the surface. Around 10 individuals restfully moved on ahead of our vessel beforing turning back and swimming within metres of the boat. The curious dolphins went underneath the ship, surfacing again on the opposite side. The very calm dolphins pleased our passengers and provided excellent close encounters.
