Tour at 17:00 and 20:30
The wind has been picking up a lot today therefore we have cancelled the 17:00 and 20:30 trips
Tour at 14:00
We sailed out straight to Faxaflói bay, the wind had picked up from this morning but we still had a nice sailing out to the bay. It took us some time until we spotted some very nice harbour porpoises. There were about 5 of them surfacing together and playing in the waves, very nice. Than after a while we spotted our first minke whale and a nice blow. It surfaced 3 times before disappearing. We headed on and found a nice group of feeding bird and after that we spotted two other minke whales, but they were quite difficult to spot, surfaced few times and were sometimes hidden by the waves. We also had a lot of diving gannets, that were just fantastic to watch and a very active birdlife. On the way back we stopped by Puffin Island to visit the puffins and saw many puffins. So overall a nice tour this afternoon.
Tour at 13:00
We headed straight out to the whale watching area where we spotted the whales tis morning. Out in the bay Faxaflói we spotted a big flock of feeding birds. Usually it's a good indicator for whales but not this time. We spotted a blow when we headed further out and found a Minke Whale short after. The whale surfaced a few times before he went for a deeper dive. We also spotted some dolphins this tour surfacing twice. At the end we headed to Lundey and spotted a lot of puffins.
Tour at 10:00
We had a great tour this morning. We headed straight out into Faxaflói bay on Elding II. The sea was pretty calm since we had the wind behind us. Out on the bay we spotted many flocks of feeding birds, Gulls, Fulmars, Guillemots, Puffins, and even the great Gannets. Around the birds the Minke Whales swam and we spotted several of them, some very close to the boat. The ride back was a bit bumpy since it was picking up wind but it wasn't to bad. On the way back we stopped by Akurey to take a look at the Puffins all around it. Great tour we had there.
Tour at 09:00
First we went to Akurey this morning and saw a lot of puffins around the island. When we came to our normal whale watching area we spotted two Minke Whales right in the beginning. Later on we spotted a flock of feeding birds and saw another Minke Whale surfacing quite often and close to the boat. After that we headed further out and found some feeding seabirds again and saw a huge blow. When we came closer we spotted some White Beaked Dolphins surfacing four times as well as a Minke Whale in the same area. Great morning tour.
