Report from Eldey: The weather was absolutely perfect today. A calm breeze, sunshine and almost glassy seas made for a perfect start of our day! Our first sighting was a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins swimming around. They had a few small ones as well, sometimes coming close to the boat to check us out before speeding away again. We enjoyed their company for a while, before heading further out. In the distance small clouds came from the surface and as we got closer the clouds turned into three humpback whales! They were together, rolling over and around each other. One of them was Neila, a whale we know quite well! One whale went its own way and we followed that for a while, watching it do beautiful flukes dives over and over again. Time was running out, so we headed back to port, passing around 10 Northern gannets plunge diving all around the boat. After this show, we put on the music and basked in the rare Icelandic sunshine until we were home.

Report from Hafsulan: The weather was quite nice today, with calm seas although unfortunately we could see rain in the distance. We started our tour with some splashes from a group of white beaked dolphins. They were appearing around the boat, bowriding, and giving us a nice welcome before we headed further out towards into the bay. We arrived to an area and we started searching for whales, but there was no sign of them. We kept looking and eventually spotted a minke whale! We saw it a couple of times at the surface before it disappeared again. We continued searching for a while, but unfortunately there were no more whale sightings. After quite some time, we came across an active group of harbour porpoises, at least around 10 individuals. They were swimming around together and gave us a nice little show before we had to start making our way back to the harbour. As we wanted to give our guests the best possible experience, we offered them complimentary tickets to come back and try again another day. Sometimes nature has other plans, but we hope to see more whales on their next adventure!

Report from Eldey: We had a lovely day out at sea today with barely any waves or wind. Quite early on in the tour we had our first sighting - a pod of roughly 5 harbour porpoises coming next to our boat. However, they were very fast and elusive so not everyone had the opportunity to see them. A bit further out we were blessed with a humpback whale. This one came close to us so that we could get really nice views from above with its big white pectorial fins. It offered us some gorgeous fluke dives too and we got to stay with this individual for quite some time. As we left this individual we had approximately 5 more harbour porpoises coming past our boat. We were fortunate to get another humpback whale on this tour that also showed off its tail fluke nicely. As if this were not enough, we had a minke whale coming up on a few surface sequences. We headed back to port, and had our passengers assist us in a man overboard exercise. This is something really important for the safety of everyone onboard and it was really good to practice it on a real tour.

Repor from Hafsulan: The weather remained calm today, with overcast skies and no sunshine to warm us up. A light, chilly breeze made it feel a little colder out on the water, but we were ready for another adventure as we headed out into the bay. After some time travelling, we finally came across a very active humpback whale feeding in the distance. As we watched its dorsal fin and tail, we quickly realized that this was a familiar individual. A whale we know very well and have affectionately named Harbour Master, after the time this individual was spotted inside Reykjavík harbour. The whale was feeding, giving us some fantastic moments as it surfaced again and again around the boat. One of the highlights was watching it lunge feed and throw water with its tail, creating quite a spectacular show on the surface. It was a great surprise to meet Harbour Master again and enjoy some time watching this familiar whale doing what humpbacks do best in Iceland: feeding! After some time spent with this individual, we started our journey back home and spotted two pods of 4-6 harbour porpoises on the way!

Report from Elding: As the sun was setting, we went out onto the bay to enjoy one of our last tours under the late night sun. The sea was flat and calm and so it was easy to sport anything that rises to the surface. So it did not take long to spot the first splashes and large dorsal fins of a pod of around 15 white-beaked dolphins traveling fast on search for some fish. They passed us quickly and so we went on to search for even bigger animals that were seen further out earlier by our other boats. A good decision as it turned out. We were able to spot a total of 4 humpback whales that were either traveling or lunge feeding close to the surface. Amazing fluke dives and loud blows at the surface a few meters from our boat were the reward. Also a fast minke whale circled our boat for a short time. On our way back to Reykjavik we spotted also a small pod of 4 harbour porpoises. With all of our main species seen, this tour was a full success.
