Tour at 13:00
Report from Hafsúlan and Elding; Easter has come and brought the sun with it and the passengers too. We had to take two boats out this afternoon so that our passengers had room to move. It was beautiful on this tour, it did get a bit chilly on the way back to land but most of the time it was like it was summer here in Iceland. The tour was incredible with birds, dolphins and whales. The first thing we spotted was swarms of birds in the distance, fulmars and gulls mainly, then the splashes came of White-beaked Dolphins which were breaching to scare and stun fish or just for communication. After a while we saw more dolphins in the distance and there just seemed too be everywhere. Hundreds of scattered dolphins breaching and leaping everywhere. Really hard to know exactly how many there were but hundreds. Then we got word from our sister vessel Hafsúlan that they saw a blow. Humpback Whale!! which had dolphins surfacing all around it. Maybe trying to annoy it. It was Amazing the whole tour. Just goes to show you how unpredictable nature can really be.
Tour at 09:00
Report from Hafsúlan; It was a cold brisk morning out on the bay this morning but the sun was out and trying to heat up the atmosphere as quickily as it posibly can. We had a look at the area we wnet to yesterday but unfortunately the Minke Whale had swam away to a different area. There wasn´t even many birds either where we were. The sea looked dead and yet we saw a lot of fish on the fish finder we had on board. We looked and looked and looked but unfortunately this morning we were unlucky and had to give out complimentary tickets.
Seabirds seen on todays tour include; Eider Ducks, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Iceland Gulls, Glaucous Gulls, Black-backed Gulls and Cormorants.
