CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was a windy morning; fresh Icelandic air was blowing in our faces and the waves were quite high. Still, it was a beautiful day with the orange sunrise lighting the city and the landscape around Faxaflói. To make the trip as comfortable as possible, our captain chose a track that mostly kept us sheltered from the wind. This also allowed us to admire the mountains and the fishing village Akranes from up close. We looked everywhere to see if we could spot a whale or dolphin, but even far away from Reykjavík we could not find anything. This proves again how fast the dynamics of the bay can change: while there were whales everywhere we looked yesterday, today it appeared they had gone to a different area to feed. We therefore gave our passengers complimentary tickets, to hopefully come back on a day where we see more wildlife on our tour. Unfortunately today we only experienced mountains, wind and waves, but we will meet again and then we will also meet whales and dolphins.
