CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out to sea on an overcast morning with a slight breeze from the south-east. We made our way into the wonderful Hvalfjörður since it allowed for good sightings during the last days. Today we came across a loose group of around 10 harbor porpoises as we made our way into the fjord. Then we spotted a promising blow in the distance that turned out to be 2 humpback whales. We spend some time with the animals and they showed us some nice fluke dives. On our way back we again saw the occasional harbor porpoise here an there, but the illusive little animals once again disappeared as quickly as they turned up.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We once again sailed into the sheltered fjord of Hvalfjörður hoping to see the whales that have made the fjord their home for the past few days. As we were sailing deeper into the fjord, we encountered a pod of 4 harbour porpoises who looked like they were in a hurry to get somewhere! Then, luck was with us once more as we spotted one humpback whale! We stayed with this whale for a bit before spotting another blow further away near the mouth of the fjord. We decided to sail over there and what a good decision that was, because there was another humpback whale there that tail lobbed right in front of us! We watched that one for a while before we had to return back to the harbour. On the way back we enjoyed some hot chocolate and nice views of the landscape!
