Tour at 17:00

Tour has been cancelled due to a strong wind out in Faxaflói bay.

Tour at 13:00

On this tour we sailed straight out to Faxalfói bay to the area where we saw the fin whale, but had no luck seeing him again. We spotted a blow in a distance but didn't see the whale again. But instead we spotted a big group of feeding birds, close to that group we spotted our first minke whale. It surfaced few times around the boat, before disappearing. So we headed on to find something else and found another really big group of birds and also great diving gannets. And soon after that we had 2 minke whales surfacing next to us before we had to head back to the harbour. On the way home we stopped by Lundey but we only saw about 20 puffins. Still a nice tour this afternoon.

Tour at 09:00

We sailed out in a rainy and foggy weather, first we stopped by Akurey and took a look at the puffins. Than we headed out to Faxaflói bay, it took us a long time to find the whales. We found one minke whale but it only came up once before going for a deeper dive, there were obviously a lot of food because we saw few other minke whales that also just came up once. But soon we had a great minke whale that surfaced only 5 meters from the boat and than surfaced again very close to us few times. Before we had to had back we had a minke whale surfacing 5-6 times for us. And on our way back we spotted a really big blow, about 5 meters high, than it surfaced again for us and it was a FIN WHALE, what a big and amazing whale. It only surfaced twice before disappearing but we were able to take a good look at it, what a great ending on the tour. (When the guide arrived this morning she told us that she had dreamt about a humpback whale, and another crewmember had dreamt about an eruption of a volcano. The captain said that it ment that we would see something amazing for example a great whale with a massive blow!! And that actually happened on the tour!! :)
