CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: Today we had cloud skies, a fresh eastern breeze and light rain on and off during the tour. The sea was calm and we were off to start our Sunday! It didn't take long until we found our first group of 3 harbour porpoises, and as we went, we spotted many different seabirds on the way. There were Northern gannets plunging and many active kittiwakes. This gave us a hint that we were in a good spot. All of a sudden, a minke whale joined us! This beautiful individual was very predictable, sometimes spending a while under the surface, sometimes popping up close to the boat. In addition, more porpoises appeared, and we started to lose count of them. They were many, about 15 in that area, coming closer to us, bowriding, surfing with the waves...! A very impressive behaviour since they are known for being very shy animals and not approaching much. We explored other areas, but we started to run out of time. It was a lovely morning in calm seas many fins around!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: This afternoon, we set sail into Faxaflói Bay, hoping to spot some cetaceans. The sea was calm, though we did get a bit of rain. On our way out, we were lucky to encounter a small pod of three harbor porpoises. They were incredibly friendly, surfacing multiple times and coming right up close to the boat—what a delightful surprise! Energized by that early sighting, we pressed on and eventually found a minke whale. It surfaced a few times fairly close, giving us the chance to snap some great photos.
