  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

Today's Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING 09:00

Report from Eldey: We started our morning with a very cold breeze but sunny skies! As we sailed into the bay we started noticing 2 blows in the distance clos to the islands just outside of Reykjavik! Two humpback whales were together swimming gently and occasionally showing their fluke in between short dives. We stayed with the whales for a while and then decided to have a stroll to check if we could find anything else around in the bay. Eventually it was time to head back home but we still had time to check out the humpbacks for one last dive before sailing to the harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The afternoon was also beautifully calm and sunny even if the temperature didn't reach more than -6! Not long after leaving the harbour, we spotted the blows in the distance of the 2 humpback whales that we saw in the morning. Banana and their friend were feeding between Engey and Videy under a small flock of birds. We were treated to many many fluke dives while they swam all around us. While we were watching them we also noticed we were surrounded by seals. There were 2 harbour seals and 3 grey seals bobbing around at the surface keeping an eye on us and the whales. After a while, more whale watching boats arrived so we continued our search around the islands. Unfortunately, we didn't spot any other cetaceans so we headed back to our familiar pair. They were still feeding and some northern gannets had joined too. We were super lucky this second time as the whales surfaced multiple times right next to us! We could see their whole bodies through the water! The passengers on the bow probably also smelt the whales' breath! After this wonderful afternoon, we had to turn back towards the harbour with everyone smiling!
