Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey and Elding  for the 09:00,13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We left the harbour under a strong northern wind. There was a few clouds but quite a blue and nice sunny day. The sea was choppy and full of white caps but not a lot of swell. We went to Akranes and turned toward south when we had the shelter from Akrafjall. We saw puffins, Arctic terns and northern fulmars gliding just above our heads, but the whales stayed hidden during this tour. We gave complimentary tickets to our passengers, giving them a chance to come back in Reykjavik or in Akureyri for a new whale-watching tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out into to the bay under a little bit of sun. The sea was mostly okay throughout the tour with only a few big swells meaning we all got to enjoy the boat ride. After over an hour of sailing we came into an hour with many birds including Arctic terns, Northern gannets and Atlantic puffins. This is the area we found some luck in. We saw 3-4 minke whales including one that came very close. We got to see them all surface a few times. This was a really nice sighting after waiting for a while. Later on our way back we then spotted a lone white beaked dolphin which only surfaced a couple times, it was quite shy. But we got to see many individuals during this tour so it was still very good.
